Monthly Newsletter June 2025

Welcome to the June edition of the Concept Carpenters Monthly Newsletter!
Over the past month, the boys have been busy again creating amazing spaces for great people. A large deck in Birkenhead is now complete, and the tricky roof in Mount Eden has taken large steps forward. On top of all that, the team also adventured on their annual social club trip this year, heading over to Melbourne for a spectacular weekend together.

Below, you’ll find a detailed breakdown of our latest projects, highlights from the workshop, and some behind-the-scenes updates from the boys.

We hope you enjoy this insight into our June journey!

Glenwood Ave, Birkenhead

Campbell and Liam have done an outstanding job finishing off this Skytower-like deck structure in Birkenhead. Perched high off the ground, the build came with its fair share of challenges—everything was just that little bit trickier than usual due to the height and complexity.

Despite the obstacles, the team delivered a fantastic result. The deck is now 100% complete and has passed its final quality assurance meeting with the client—everyone is thrilled with the outcome.

This project involved mid-job adaptations, including extra detailing from the engineers and a few unexpected changes along the way. The crew took it all in their stride, handling each challenge with ease and professionalism. The finished product is something we’re all proud of.

Nelson Street, Howick

Ethan and the boys have been doing a fantastic job over in Howick, with the extension renovation now nearing completion. Over the past month, the team has finished the main outdoor deck—perfect for endless summertime entertainment—and crafted beautiful Kwila hardwood entry stairs leading up to the front door.

On the inside, the painting is now complete and the new flooring is down, bringing a fresh feel to the space. The bathrooms are sitting at about 90% complete, with final touches underway.

By this time next month, we expect to be all wrapped up and out of our clients’ hair, leaving behind another awesome project that everyone can be proud of.

Owens Road, Epsom

Jack, Sam, and the team at Owens Road have made great strides this month, getting the building paper installed on both the roof and walls. This extra layer of protection has been essential, especially with the wet and stormy weather we’ve been experiencing lately.

This project has involved some intricate details required by the council, but thanks to close collaboration with our client’s architect, the team has been able to tackle these challenges head-on. One notable feature of the roof system is the inclusion of a plastic ventilating strip—an important measure dictated by the unique roof profile to ensure proper ventilation.

Looking ahead, our joinery is set to arrive this Friday. Over the next couple of weeks, the team will continue working to close in the building, bringing us ever closer to the next exciting stage of this project.

Mahuhu Crescent, CBD

Matt and the team are making great headway on our exciting new WOTSO co-working fit-out project in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. Since starting on site, we’ve been busy procuring all the necessary materials—including the X-Frame prefabricated kit-set wall system, which is proudly made right here in New Zealand. It’s a very cool, innovative product that’s helping shape the space efficiently and sustainably.

When we began, we were handed an empty shell. Fast forward to today: we’ve now completed 50% of the X-Frame installation, transforming the space at a rapid pace.

We’re also incorporating Saveboard, a unique recycled plastic lining product from another outstanding Kiwi company, throughout the fit-out. It’s great to be supporting local innovation while delivering something special for our client.

Stay tuned as this project takes shape!

Closing words

We hope you’ve enjoyed this month’s roundup of progress and projects here at Concept. As you can see, it’s been a busy and exciting time for the whole team.

Before we sign off, we want to give a special shoutout to one of our apprentices, JP, who is currently competing in this year’s Apprentice of the Year competition. It’s a fantastic recognition of JP’s hard work and dedication. The winners will be announced in September—fingers crossed for JP and best of luck!

Thanks for following along, and stay tuned for more updates next month.
