“Sixteen years ago we bought our 1970s architecturally designed home in St Heliers. It was in original condition, right down to the brown tiled bathrooms and heavy brown carpet throughout. Over a number of years we made cosmetic alterations but eventually realised we needed to commit to a renovation that would upgrade and add value to the property as a whole.

We chose Henry and his team at Concept Carpenters after he (and Bill) visited to appraise the job as one of a number of tenderers recommended by our architect. We were struck by their appreciation for the era of the house and the qualities that we think make it unique and special. Concept Carpenters quote was competitive and after further discussion we felt confident that Henry and his team would bring (their youthful) enthusiasm and energy to the job - which they did. The house presented some challenges due to its design and position; so communication was important.

Henry kept us up to speed at every step and was always available to answer and deal with any queries we had no matter how small. We have always tried to maintain the integrity of the original design and materials as much as possible, and this inevitably led to challenges for the team. Concept Carpenters worked hard to understand and achieve our vision and to resolve the sometimes tricky issues that arose, and we really appreciated it. (The work required a complete re-clad, all new joinery, a reroof, a new above ground concrete pool, a steel and glass carport, new driveway, front steps and entrance, wall, retaining, and drainage work.) During the course of the build there were subcontractors and inspections to manage. Henry was adept at ensuring that these jobs ran as smoothly as possible which kept the pressure off us. Concept Carpenters are a hardworking, diligent, focused team. They were thoroughly professional throughout what was a 12 month project, a pleasure to deal with, and committed to delivering the job in a timely manner.

We are very happy with the final result. The renovation has enhanced the qualities that we have always loved about the house while bringing it up to date, and Henry and his team have been instrumental in achieving this transformation.
