Monthly Newsletter December 2025

Welcome to the latest edition of the Concept Carpenters monthly newsletter. As we close out 2025, we are excited to reflect on a fantastic final month for the business. December was filled with Christmas celebrations, great team socialising, and plenty of opportunities to recognise the hard work and dedication shown across the year. Alongside the festivities, our teams continued to deliver high-quality workmanship, creating more outstanding spaces on site and finishing the year strong. We hope you enjoy this wrap-up of the year and the highlights from an eventful final month.

Ponga Road, Drury

In the beautiful Opaheke, South Auckland, Foreman Ethan, Project Manager Cam, and the wider team have been doing an outstanding job on site. Reaching roof-on before Christmas is a significant milestone, and with the building paper now installed, the wall frames can dry out nicely over the holiday break while we enjoy some well-earned Christmas ham and champagne.

Our client is absolutely wrapped with the progress and results to date, and the team is looking forward to getting stuck back in mid-January to commence the cedar cladding installation. It has been very satisfying to see this lifestyle home nearly double in size through the latest extension, creating a much larger and more functional space. There will certainly be plenty of room for activities in this household once complete.

Weona Place, Westmere

Over in Westmere, Project Manager John and the building team have been delivering impressive progress over the past month. At the basement garage level, the timber framing is now installed, along with the structural steel supporting the mid-floor. This included the installation of some impressive 7.5-metre-long steel beams.

The basement walls have been constructed using 6x2 timber framing—a premium specification that enhances acoustic performance and allows for efficient service runs within the walls, well suited to a high-end home. At ground level, the footings for the concrete slab have now been poured, showcasing some excellent reinforcing steel workmanship.

This stage also required bridging an existing public sewer line within the slab, resulting in a more technical footing and reinforcement design, which the team executed with precision. Looking ahead to the new year, masonry blockwork will commence on the ground-level slab, followed by backfilling. The ground-level concrete slab is programmed to be completed by the end of January, keeping the project on track.

First View Avenue, Beachlands

On site in Beachlands, Jack, JP, and Josh have put in some serious hard mahi over the past month. This barn-style new build features a very large raking ceiling in the living area, which made access for completing the roof framing particularly challenging. Despite the difficult conditions and battling the sun day after day, the boys have delivered an outstanding result.

The house is now roofed, eco-ply is installed, and all windows are in. While we’re on holiday enjoying pavlova and mimosas, the bricklayers will be on site installing the brick cladding. In the new year, we’ll return to complete the plywood and batten cladding.

A simple, well-considered design that is both effective and looks great. Well done to everyone involved in delivering this stage of the project.

Closing words

That’s a wrap for this month’s Concept Newsletter. We hope you’ve enjoyed this snapshot of what the team and I have been up to recently.

Below are a few photos from some special moments over the month, including young JP achieving a major milestone by gaining his qualification a few days ago. To top it off, JP was also named one of Auckland’s top 10 apprentices for the year — an outstanding achievement. Congratulations, JP, and very well deserved.

We also celebrated birthdays this past month for Michael and Cam — another year older and another year wiser. Well done, gentlemen.

As we wrap up the year, we’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy festive season. Thank you all for your continued hard work and support throughout the year.

Stay positive and keep testing negative,
HM
